Oxygen 5.0 is shipping The supernice folks at SyncRO Soft are now shipping a major upgrade to the XML/XSLT/schema authoring tool. I've been using it a prerelease for a few days and, well, it's better and faster. Here's one insanely useful feature: the debugger now answers the question, "What part of the stylesheet generated this output and what was the current selected node in the source?" Answer? "Just click on the output and the corresponding stylesheet and document locations will be highlighted." Compare that to a system like, say, ZPT in Plone. I have been talking with SyncRO about the Zope 3 pipelines (codename xickenpipe) discussion at the castle sprint. The hope is that we have a pipeline approach that works untouched whether you are in development mode with static XML mockups on disk, or in production mode, with live data from Zope being transformed. The challenge is that the latter doesn't really want URLs as input sources. I think now that the best answer is the same as 4suite and Syncato: have some XSLT extensions that pull data from the model, whether on-disk data or in-Zope objects. 9:53:16 AM   comment []
