BBC: "A bag of rubbish that was part of a Tate Britain work of art has been accidentally thrown away by a cleaner.
The bag filled with discarded paper and cardboard was part of a work by Gustav Metzger, said to demonstrate the 'finite existence' of art.
It was thrown away by a cleaner at the London gallery, which subsequently retrieved the damaged bag.
The 78-year-old artist replaced it with a new bag. The gallery would not reveal whether he would be compensated."
Jesus! When artists don't even understand their own work, it's time to kick them out of all galleries.
That cleaner deserves part if not all of the money the artist got. Who is demonstrating the 'finite existence' of art better than that cleaner? That moron of an artist has even replaced the bag. I'll tell you, that cleaner is an artist. This was the ultimate work of art, the crown on the work. Once again the artist was shown to be an emperor without clothes. Hail to the cleaners!

Finally, Art Spiegelman's book is out.
Guardian comment.

A picture named BiAB.jpg "New York police arrested around 100 people when thousands of cyclists descended on the city's streets late yesterday to highlight environmental issues. Police said 5000 cyclists turned out for Critical Mass, a ride highlighting environmental issues held regularly in New York."
Bikes Against Bush (see picture) will be in New York on Monday. It's "a one-of-a-kind, interactive protest/performance occurring simultaneously online and on the streets of NYC during the upcoming Republican National Convention. Using a Wireless Internet-enabled bicycle outfitted with a custom-designed printing device, the Bikes Against Bush bicycle can print text messages sent from web users directly onto the streets of Manhattan in water-soluble chalk."
"A dozen AIDS activists were arrested outside Madison Square Garden Thursday afternoon after they stripped off their clothes and blocked traffic."
The first protests have kicked off.
Hysteria has reached a peak among officials, who see this as a chance to hit at protesters.
"GNU-Darwin wishes to reiterate our solidarity with the anti-war demonstrators, and warn the powers that we will go black with an extended list of demands if the NYC demonstrators are ill-treated, harmed, or molested in any substantial way. We will also join the boycott plans against Disney, etc, and we will lend the communicative power of our Distribution to that effort."
It seems GNU Darwin have already gone black, as they did in protest of the US aggression in Iraq.
More news.
Let the Bushies know that you're mad as hell and you're not going to take it anymore.
