Kommersant: "American intelligence confirms that the latest military actions in South Ossetia were started by Georgia and Russia's position in the conflict was correct, says Republican California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. He said the situation reminded him of the Bay of Tonkin incident, which the U.S. used as a pretext for beginning the war in Vietnam.
'The Russians are right! We're wrong! Georgia started it, the Russians ended it,' Rohrabacher said at a hearing in the House of Representatives.
Fried said that the Bush administration had forcefully and repeatedly warned the Georgians against beginning military actions against Russia, and he was unable to say why Georgia chose to ignore that advice."
Well, maybe Cheney's envoy whispered a few words in Saakashvili's ears during his visit before the brutal Georgian attack.

Haaretz: "The security aid package the United States has refused to give Israel for the past few months out of concern that Israel would use it to attack nuclear facilities in Iran included a large number of 'bunker-buster' bombs, permission to use an air corridor to Iran, an advanced technological system and refueling planes.
Officials from both countries have been discussing the Israeli requests over the past few months. Their rejection would make it very difficult for Israel to attack Iran, if such a decision is made."
Or is this just a smoke screen, the 'Georgia approach' (making it seem as if Saakashvili acted on his own, but was secretly given all help and means necessary to invade South Ossetia)? So the US would seem to be officially not involved. It is possible. However, Israel would make a huge mistake to attack Iran. A retaliation on Israel's Dimona reactor could be the result.

ThinkProgress: "In a press conference, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Dana Perino about the administration's ongoing efforts to find Osama bin Laden, calling him the 'mastermind' of 9/11. Perino interrupted the reporter, claiming bin Laden was not the true 'mastermind' of the attacks:
Q: But Osama bin Laden is the one that - you keep talking about his lieutenants, and, yes, they are very important, but Osama bin Laden was the mastermind of 9/11 -
PERINO: No, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was the mastermind of 9/11, and he's sitting in jail right now."
So all those years we've been told lies?
The Bush administration was and is a factory of lies. The have lied about 9/11. How come on that day the whole of the American defence system was down? How come three buildings collapsed while they were built to withstand the impact of jet planes and fires? Nevertheless, these buildings collapsed in defiance of all laws of physics. We know for sure that WTC7 was a controlled demolition, so the very neat collapse of the Twin Towers could suggest that some internal help was given to the collapse. Never ever have there been such neat collapses following jet impacts, fires or whatever.
