Clean Up Washington: "We are witnessing the most corrupt Congress in decades. Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) has been indicted. Former Representative Randy 'Duke' Cunningham admitted to accepting bribes and resigned his seat. Former Republican super lobbyist Jack Abramoff has pled guilty to conspiracy to bribe public officials, along with his partner and former top DeLay aide Michael Scanlon, and the Department of Justice investigation of Abramoff could ensnare up to a half dozen members of Congress and even more of their staff.

Meanwhile, in the midst of all this scandal the House ethics committee has not launched a single investigation. Special interest money is flowing to members of Congress like never before, and important legislation, such as the Medicare prescription drug bill and last fall's energy bill, have turned into little more than enormous gravy trains for corporate interests.

The time for reform is NOW! The Senate Government Affairs Committee and the Senate Rules Committee are marking up reform legislation NEXT WEEK, and they need to hear our demand for real reform.

We urge you to join National Call Out Corruption Day next Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 2006."

Yahoo: "A federal judge ordered the Pentagon on Thursday to release the identities of hundreds of detainees at Guantanamo Bay to The Associated Press, a move which would force the government to break its secrecy and reveal the most comprehensive list yet of those who have been imprisoned there."
