FAS: "The role of special operations forces in the U.S. military is steadily increasing but relatively little is publicly known about the activities and performance of these specialized units.
A new U.S. Army manual (pdf) fills in some of the gaps in the public record with a description of the structure, capabilities and missions of U.S. Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF).
The manual has not been approved for public release, but a copy was obtained by Secrecy News.
'ARSOF are specially organized, trained, and equipped military forces,' it explains. 'They conduct SO [special operations] to achieve military, political, economic, or informational objectives by generally unconventional means in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive areas.'"
ARSOF is a threat to democracy all over the world. As long as politics are decided by ARSOF operations and not by democratic elections, there can be no real democracy in the targeted countries. ARSOF is an imperial and fascist organisation.
We can see the devastation and counterproductive chaos the Bush operations are still causing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

SeattleTimes: "Democrats completed an improbable double-barreled election sweep of Congress on Wednesday, taking control of the Senate with a victory in Virginia as they padded their day-old majority in the House."
Improbable? Hell no!
SeattleTimes: "President Bush said today that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was resigning and named former CIA Director Robert Gates to replace him at the Pentagon."
What can you do when there is even a mutiny brewing at West Point?
And Borowitz adds the finishing touch:
"Minutes after President George W. Bush announced the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Dick Cheney reportedly confronted Mr. Bush in the Oval Office and said to his boss, 'If you're thinking of firing me, remember, I have those naked pictures of you and that goat.'"
