A great initiative has just started. Dutch artist Siegfried Woldhek is the manager of the project. What is it all about? Internet is a wonderful thing. It connects people, provides information and in the case of NABUUR - NEIGHBORS it connects 'neighbors', i.e. people with certain skills/knowledge, to 'villages', i.e. communities in need of help/knowledge.
Example: "The people of Chaparri in Northern Peru have just joined NABUUR and welcome the assistance of online volunteers ('Neighbors') to save their tropical dry forest. This is the richest forest in the world. Its wildlife is spectacular: bespectacled bear, wild lama, condor and many other species.
At the same time they want to build a sustainable future for themselves. They have defined a strategy in which nature protection and a future for their children go hand in hand.
A first example of this is the construction of water wells. In this arid region wild animals and cattle alike suffer from drought. You can help the people of Chaparri to install water wells for both wildlife and cattle."
Many more projects could be initiated this way. It's worldwide, it's exhilarating, it's great. So, if you have certain skills that may benefit villages in an other part of the world, put in your expertise.
