UNHCHR: "In a resolution (E/CN.4/2004/L.16/Rev.2) on the inadmissibility of certain practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, adopted by a roll-call vote of 36 in favour and 13 opposed, with four abstentions, the Commission reaffirmed the provision of the Durban Declaration in which States condemned the persistence and resurgence of neo-Nazism, neo-Fascism and violent nationalist prejudice and stated that these phenomena could never be justified; expressed deep concern over the glorification of former members of the Waffen SS organization, in particular, erecting monuments and memorials to the SS men and holding public demonstrations of former SS members; stressed that the practices described above did injustice to the memory of the countless victims of the SS organization and poisoned the minds of young people; also stressed that such practices fuelled contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, and intolerance and contributed to the spread and multiplication of various extremist political parties, movements and groups, including neo-Nazis and skinheads; emphasized the need to take the necessary measures to put an end to the practices described above; and requested the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism to reflect on this issue and to make relevant recommendations in his report to the Commission at its sixty-first session.
Voted against (13): Australia, Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States."
Moscow Times: "Last year, Latvia faced criticism over a memorial to the Latvian Legion, part of the Waffen SS.
Such monuments 'do injustice' to the Nazis' victims, 'poison the minds of young people' and fuel modern-day extremist groups, the motion said."
In fact, we can expect more trouble from countries like Latvia, Poland, etc. when they enter the European Union than from a country like Turkey.

Arizona Daily Star: "A comprehensive study of 328 criminal cases over the last 15 years in which the convicted person was exonerated suggests that there are thousands of innocent people in prison today."
I am waiting for a study that determines how many real criminals can be found in governments.

Scotsman: "The man who blew the whistle on Israel's secret nuclear weapons programme leaves jail this week, only to be imprisoned again in his own country, where he is reviled as a traitor."
Join the campaigns to free Vanunu in the UK, US or Holland.
Petition.
Haaretz: "A veritable 'Vanunu festival' is planned to mark the prisoner's long-awaited release. Peace activists and anti-nuclear campaigners from the United States, Britain, Japan, Ireland, Poland, Hungary and other countries have been arriving in Israel since last week."
What has happened to Israel lately? Vanunu is not a danger to Israel, nevertheless they treat him as a pariah; the Palestinians, the rightful owners of the land they lived on for ages, are treated as Untermenschen - if the Israeli want to maintain their right to their own state they should at least be more considerate towards the original population; the present Israeli government is murdering scores of Palestinian leaders.
Could this be explained psychologically? For instance, victims of child molest tend to become child molesters too (at least some of them). Visit their past horrors upon others. Is this the Israeli way to cope with the horrible Jewish past? It's not the right way.
