Spotlight: "Professor Emeritus at Tel Aviv University, Tanya Reinhart is author of the forthcoming book The Road Map to Nowhere: Israel/Palestine Since 2003.
Speaking on 6 July, she said: 'The present Israeli 'operation' is not about releasing the captured Israeli soldier - one need not be a military analyst to realize he cannot be released this way. The Israeli army has been planning this operation for quite a while, awaiting the appropriate trigger that will create the appropriate international conditions.
The major goal of the Israeli government is toppling the Hamas government by force. In Israel's view, the Palestinian election results are a disaster, because for the first time they have a leadership that insists on representing Palestinian interests rather than just collaborating with Israel's demands."

Haaretz: "Internationally acclaimed author and former Peruvian presidential candidate, Mario Vargas Llosa, over the weekend slammed Israel's 'out of proportion' operation in the Gaza Strip, saying he was ashamed of being Israel's friend."

ICH: It's time to end the last taboo.

TSol: "Dear Mr Murray,
It has come to our attention that, on 4 July 2006, you placed 15 documents on your website which you describe as 'supporting documents' relating to your book 'Murder in Samarkand'. We have reviewed the documents and it is clear that in each case (save for document 12 and the majority of document 13) the copyright in the documents subsists with the Crown.
As you are infringing Crown copyright, you are required to remove the documents from your website immediately..."

Craig Murray's weblog has more.

It is clear the purpose is to keep the documents secret.

Independent: "The Metropolitan Police have been asked to investigate whether John Prescott broke anti-corruption laws when he accepted an invitation to stay with Philip Anschutz, the billionaire owner of the Millennium Dome."

This isn't the first Prescott scandal. Tony Blair seems to attract dubious people for this cabinet. Of course, Downing Street dismisses the report that Prescott will be dismissed.
However, some sources think Blair is plotting a coup to install his own loyalist.
