Scotsman: "A mayor in the Netherlands wants prostitutes to accompany Dutch troops abroad.
'The army must consider ways its soldiers can let off steam,' Annemarie Jorritsma, mayor of Almere and a member of the ruling VVD liberals, said."
The Dutch Army is already compromising itself in Afghanstan. Of course, neocon liberals would do anything for money.
The Netherlands ranks among the first in the list of free press countries. Take that with a pinch of salt. The Netherlands has always been very good at hiding the skeleton in the cupboard. Under the cloak of concensus and tolerance, there is a rigid control of the media and organisations. It is the rule here that the secret service, the AIVD (the former BVD) infiltrates every organisation on the left and even creates leftist organisations. There is in Holland no real opposition press. The Communist party has been eradicated effectively and every attempt at criticism of the system is quietly but ruthlessly eliminated. And this is not very difficult to achieve, because in a country in which money rules, ideas and social behaviour are ridiculed. Remember that Royal Dutch Shell still has headquarters in Holland, which explains the Dutch eagerness to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. But even here Big Brother is losing his appeal.

YNetNews: "The Mossad is furious at a popular British espionage drama series, or so says the Sunday Express. The British daily reported Sunday that senior Mossad agents were so angry with the way their organization was depicted in the BBC production 'Spooks' that they decided to take the matter to the British secret service.
High-ranking Mossad agents reportedly flew to London to see the last episode, which aired on BBC3 last week.
The episode deals with a large-scale deal between Britain and Saudi Arabia wherein Britain is promised an unlimited supply of fuel for handing over plutonium to the Saudis. Mossad agents attempt to thwart the deal, and are seen shooting bound and blindfolded prisoners in the back."
Haaretz: "Eight more doctors from the Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot and the Hartzfeld Geriatric Hospital in Gedera are suspected of involvement in experiments on human beings, Chief Superintendent Meir Cohen, told the Knesset Labor and Welfare Committee on Monday.
The doctors are believed to have performed illegal experiments on hundreds of elderly individuals, many without their required consent. 12 of those who were experimented on died, and their deaths were not correctly reported to the Health Ministry as required by law."
Lefti: "It's official: Avigdor Lieberman, the leader of the far-right, racist Yisrael Beitenu party, will be joining the Israeli Cabinet. As Saree Makdisi put it on CounterPunch earlier this year:
Lieberman's party believes what all Israelis believe: that Israel is a Jewish state. Unlike the more respectable Israeli parties, however, Lieberman's party is willing to add that since Israel is a Jewish state, non-Jews are not welcome. Even if they were born there."
It is a known fact that people who have suffered sexual abuse or had traumatic experiences, tend to repeat the abuse. It seems that also holds true for whole nations. Israel badly needs psychotherapy.
