selling out, sold off in stark constrast to what they once stood for and declared, public enemy are now officially pants. and slashdotters, among many of the band's former fans who are registering their discontent at the public enemy forum, are raging mad and with a good reason. seems that public enemy are becoming what they once opposed: whores of the game. what a shame and betrayal. i, as a band's former supporter, won't be buying (into) this crap. for music is all about an (sub-cultural) attitude towards life. and hip-hoppers' attitude has nothing got to do with drm. update 1: thanks to phil jones for alerting me to my errors. i was wrong. my apologies to all, especially to public enemy whom i criticised so fiercely (and unjustly) without taking a second minute to doublecheck the names and get my story straight. maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me; maybe it's just my brain, so there's not much to worry. anyways, the band i've painted black is not public enemy, but beastie boys. all else stands correct, and remains my opinion and only. update 2: the controversy continues.....in a June 23 new scientist article, the big industry boys deny there is any dodgy software in the beastie boys cd, but in the very same article they contradict themselves when they say they plan to roll-out the dodgy software in all countries soon. seems to me they're not listening to what the market says....
