Traitor Politics In a yet unpublished (dated September 2004) and violent Esquire op-ed, Reagan Junior puts forth the case against Bush. Weird? Unreasonable? Hmmm....seems to me that Reagan Junior is attacking Bush not because he is appaled by Bush's strategy - on the contrary, if you are honest to yourself you can clearly see that he hedges his bets so that whatever happens in a few months, he will emerge as the next Republican leader, well positioned to reap full benefit out of all possible outcomes: if Bush wins, he will be the Republican who stood up to Bush and stated his discontent with the current regime, so he will still be eligible for some of Republican voters' sympathy and support, which, in turn, will come very handy in the next elections; and if Bush loses, then again he will be the next messiah destined to rescue Republicans in the next elections. Nice to be in the traitor politics business, don't you think? Via Roland Piquepaille at Smartmobs via Dan Gillmor 11:54:57 PM ![]() |
The rotten Apple Apple issued a statement according to which it will bring legal slander against Real Networks for the latter's re-engineering of Apple's DRM format "fairplay" in order to make it compatible with Real's store and Apple's iPod.
As an Apple user, and one who has been constantly defending their products and organisational mindset to friends considering a migration to another platform, telling them the story of Jobs and Wozniak hacking and selling those legendary black boxes, and how the Macintosh is a superior os, and that it is inextricably linked to the counter-culture of the 60s, indeed the outcome of intense creative forces coming together to hack the world in the image of the original hippie culture, I was "stunned" to hear that Apple is opposed to such "hacking" practices and uses the worst choice of words it could to express its discontent. Shame to Apple: it is no longer insanely great - now it's only insanely typical and stupid. Via Tim Pritlove UPDATE 1: Just got the news via /. that Steve Jobs has been in the hospital, having a cancerous tumor successfully removed. maybe that helps explain why Apple officials issued such an outrageous statement. wish you have a quick recovery Steve. 2:58:30 AM ![]() |
