Not Quite Rich Enough

Ever wonder how rich you are?  Not just measured by what is in your checking account or in your possessions.  I mean in comparison to everyone else on the planet.

Now you can find out.  All you have to do is check out the Global Rich List, type in your annual income, and then sit back and let the guilt flood in.

My results:

You are in the top 0.839% richest people in the world.

There are 5,949,632,435 people poorer than you.

How do you feel about that? A bit richer we hope. Please consider donating just a small amount to help some of the poorest people in the world. Many of their lives could be improved dramatically or even saved if you donate just one hour's salary (approx $41.66)

Oh, and in case you’re interested you are the 50,367,565 richest person in the world.

Now I feel lucky.  Privileged.  Down right blessed.

Of course I can also look at the glass half empty and want to know how I can surpass the 50,367,564 other people who are strutting around with more bling-bling than I am.  Bastards.

Or I can just focus all my resources (as plentiful as they apparently are) on knocking the top dog off the list:  Bill Gates.

Do you have any idea how rich he is?  As of this post, Billy is worth $34,640,000,000.  According to the Bill Gates Net Worth Page, Alex Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers, the highest paid baseball player out there, would have to play for 1,385 seasons just to catch-up to Mr. Gates.  That's freakin' rich.

From that perspective, Bill Gates should be donating one hour's salary to me.  According to the Global Rich list, that should be about $1,360,000.  Makes my $41.66 look like a reason to hang myself.  Thanks Bill.

I'm going to go cry into my pillow now.
