I've added example 74 to my examples page, illustrating some ideas I've been experimenting with to allow an ADF application module's active data model master/detail querying to be automatically informed of the particular view objects in use on the current JSF page so it can optimize automatic master/detail synchronization to affect only those detail view objects the end-user can currently see on the page. We may be able to build such optimization directly into the framework as an automatic feature in the future. This is work I prototyped to see what was possible to achieve today in 10.1.3 production.
