Congratulations to Duncan Mills and Peter Koletzke, whose new book from Oracle Press entitled Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms & PL/SQL Developers is finally out in stores, and available on Amazon. More great resources for developers coming from a 4GL background who want to make the most of JDeveloper and Oracle ADF.

I wanted to thank the nice crowd I had today at the NYOUG meeting for my talk Betting Big on JSF: Components, Tools, Tricks. Lots of folks stayed after and asked good questions, which is always a nice sign. I told the attendees that I'd post the slides on my blog, so I've just done that over here. I did quite a few demos to try and help people understand the power and simplicity of JSF, especially when used with JDeveloper 10g and the Oracle ADF Framework, and I even gave the audience a sneak peak at some of the rich client JSF controls we're building for the JDeveloper 11g release by demoing an upgraded version of the 10.1.3 SRDemo sample. I showed off splitter controls, right-mouse context menus, accordion panels, modal and modeless dialog windows, and more, all with really slick new interactivity and look and feel. I also did a demo of the new JSF-version of Oracle JHeadstart 10.1.3 to illustrate that the productivity combination of JDeveloper 10g, Oracle ADF, plus the JHeadstart application generator is quite an impressive sight.
