(george) Awe...what a cool weekend I had!!! Just returned from 37 hours to Philadelphia and back. It was Thom Bell's (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll) surprise birthday party, and getting the invite and honored by it, I booked my flight! It was a rare, wonderful treat to see Thom, Vanessa, Barbara Bell, Leroy...Charles Collins, Bob Babbitt, Bobby Eli, and many others...a host of heros, and mentors. Everyone looked surprisingly good, too, considering how much time had passed!!! I wasn't aware how much I missed them all, and that musical time...so much that I learned then is still what I draw on for inspiration- I am thankful. If I get some pics from anyone, I'll post 'em. And the links for Bell have tidbits on that powerful era of music out of Philadelphia- TSOP, Delfonics, O'Jays, The Stylistics, The Spinners, Deniece Williams, Elton John...it changed my life.
