April 25, 2003 SQL LiteSpeed Slashes Storage Costs By Lisa Vaas DBAssociates is rolling out an easier way to back up Microsoft Corp. SQL Server databases. The news comes from Edgewood Solutions LLC, a Merrimack, N.H., consultancy and partner of DBAssociates, which is based in Melbourne, Australia.  The software tool, SQL LiteSpeed, compresses and locks down data with 128-bit encryption as the data backs up. Edgewood officials said that such encryption protects the backup for off-site storage and also satisfies impending regulatory requirements for protecting personally identifiable data for legislation such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and SAS (Statement on Auditing Standards) 70. 3:27:02 PM
