In it the President of the Convention on the Future of Europe is interviewed by Newsnight's diplomatic editor, Mark Urban.
One foreign policy, one European army. The former French president Valery Giscard D'Estaing is the Chairman of this powerful Convention - in the process of writing the EU constitution.
This man is the core of future plans for Europe, and I am very scared of his ideas. I voted No to the Nice Treaty twice and still Europe did not listen. The EU will not 'counter-balance' the US, it will compete with it. NATO and the EU will become one in the same, as US involvment in NATO continues to decline.
