North Korea's human rights record under UN spotlight as accusations mount. GENEVA: A UN expert may soon be appointed for the first time to investigate claims that North Korea is testing chemical weapons on political prisoners and other allegations of human rights abuses. The European Union is due to propose a new resolution on North Korea at the United Nations' top human rights forum and call for a special rapporteur to probe allegations of torture in the country.
