i was thinking about what has been going on in my life since I last posted anything here..so this might be quite a ramble..but here is what's in my head lately working backwards i think...or maybe just a scattered pattern, since that is usually how my head works....
Friday was eventful, I had an interview scheduled for the morning but had to call and reschedule due to a kitty emergency..kitties here come first, I don't think I could stand losing one of them. Baby Kitty couldn't pee. Everytime he tried, nada. He was using the beanbag, a towel on the floor, another towel in the bedroom but for some reason he knew the couch and the bed were off limits. If you have cats, you know, cats being unable to pee can put them into shock...so off we rushed to the vet first thing in the morning. They had to keep him all day, feed him intravaneous liquids to try and get a pee sample, finally got one at 4pm and sent him home with pain medication to hopefully help his bladder to stop spasming..they'll let me know if he has an infection on Monday. So in the midst of all this, I went to my interview in Foster City, they reschedule me for 12:30..whew made it just in time, had a 2.5 hour interview for a job I really don't want and high tailed it back to Concord at 3pm to reach the vet by 5pm to pick up baby kitty and get a whopping 181 dollar bill which I of course could only pay partially.
Saturday - today, I went to the store to buy three more litter boxes and litter, ok the vet made a comment, I have 5 cats and only one litter box, so maybe Baby Kitty was having anxiety over the fact there was only one litter box...so now there are a total of 4 and he seems to be quite better and acting normal..no more peeing in strange spots like my leather beanbag chair :(
The job that I interview for: accounting technical specialist..helpdesk tech support for MAX/Exact Software..couple of things about it, the people were nice except the Tier 2 Support Guy who acted like he was better than the average person, would have been nice if I could have understood him; also its in Foster City, which is an hour drive without commute, 2 hours with and I think I actually like working in the city, I love my hours and I really like the people I work for..now just to find another part-time job that fits with the current part-time job. I kinda of like the consulting aspect of working sometimes..and to be honest, I don't particulary like talking on the phone that much.
Monday - Thursday..I know have new respect for anyone doing graphic design for a living, like my sister..who knew lines had to be straight on layouts *grin* The company I am working for thought since I designed their website (site still very under construction), then I could probably do a marketing brochure for them and that's what I've been doing most nights when I get home. Gotta love supernova.org, downloaded pagemaker and learned it last week, got the layout done, printed out some pages, took it into work to find out that I needed to do more tweaking and more tweaking, the color was wrong, the pictures were wrong..if you give me hortizontal pictures and you want them stretch vertically..of course something is going to be distorted or vice versa, the lines weren't straight, the font didn't match the business card, the logo was placed wrong, you name it, I didn't do something right...yea, I know once i get it to perfection, then I can put it on my resume but i'm not a think/color inside the lines kinda of person and have never been able to cut a straight line.
back to tonight, I downloaded the correct font, anyone need conduit font? got the same spacing as the business cards, pray for me i did that right, got all the pictures to line up correctly and will be printing this once again to see if maybe we can go to the printer with this layout...enough with the venting...
I've been really into reading again lately, started reading the Clan of the Cave Bear series and you know I think when I was younger the whole concept of Pleasures might have been lost on me, but damn this series is incredibly sensual and sexy..there are parts in it that just hit me that I totally understand it now. I might expand on this subject later..
as these are just random thoughts that have been in my head this last couple of weeks, like the weather in California..ok where did the summer go? or did it ever show up? I have this really gorgeous tan on one arm and a part of my thigh from driving and a pale tan on the rest of me. A typical 24 hour weather pattern of one of my days (i'm on a roll here *grin*), I'm amazed I haven't gotten sick with all these weird temperatures:
- wake up in the morning, cold and foggy about 65,
- drive to work, getting warmer...mid 70s
- the city is nice, mid 70s
- leave work, cooling off, low 70s
- drive across bay bridge, berkeley is gorgeous, upper 70s
- hit Richmond, cold and foggy, roll up window so cold
- get to the about Hercules, hot again
- get home, still hot, got the fans going in the house because it was in the low 80s all day,
- go to bed, turn on heater, cooled down to the 60s
I think I liked it better when I went from extremely hot of Pleasant Hill to San Francisco where I could cool off a bit before heading back to the heat.
so my scattered thoughts and I guess I probably shouldn't have logged in today on IM...i wasn't really ever sitting at my computer for more than a few minutes.
I had a great interview with a company called Forests Forever and I'd love to get that job, its full-time pay, 4 days a week, full-time benefits and it would work perfect with my current job. My thoughts on that, I could work from 8-4 Monday- Thursday, go to current job 2-3 days a week from 4-6 and then all day Friday..could pay off the credit cards and the IRS and start working on getting a house..cross your fingers for me.
oh yea, the IRS..i've been avoiding that for a couple of days, but might as well spill it here, I got audited *ugh* Here's the scoop: my grandmother setup a limited partnership for her farm, I get these schedule K1 form so way after the deadline of when taxes are due, apparently I get dividends and interest on something I know nothing about, I never actually see any of the interest or dividends, supposedly I get cash from this limited partnership but I've never seen it. I also don't even know how much I have invested in this limited partnership but apparently I owe taxes on the dividends and the interest..in the tune of 634 for 2002, probably the same for 2003 and god I hope it doesn't go back any further than that..either/or I don't have the money to pay them. I barely had enough today to buy litter. My stepdad told me to call the IRS and explain the situation but I have a feeling that isn't going to help, so I'm writing my grandmother and explaining that this limited partnership that I'm a part of, its me that gets taxed, yeah she's not getting taxed on her farm or whatever but thanks alot I 'm getting taxed and would very much appreciated it if I could withdraw some money to pay for these taxes every year...any CPAs or accountants out there have any advice for me???
ok i guess that's enough for me and my scattered thoughts tonight, my wrist is getting tired - carpal tunnel is flaring up lately, one more reason, tech support probably isn't the job for me *smile*
