or something like it, frustrating day on a project, yesterday I was soooo tired that it didn't really matter what people were saying to piss me off because I wasn't really following any train of thought but today I was so frustrated that I almost cried and I wanted to scream and I have realized something
The primary function of the cable purchasing guy is to make things as difficult as possible for the software trainer. No matter which company I go to, it is always the cable purchasing guy that makes my job as frustrating as possible. The Harvard Principle: Under the most rigorously controlled conditions of temperature, humidity, pressure, etc., the organism will do as it damn well pleases. in this case, the organism is always the cable operations/purchasing guy.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and twist everything you say to make you look like the idiot. - this one I gotta remember maybe I won't get so frustrated
When a showing a client how something works, it will never work for you during a training session - all impossible failures will happen on the clients desktop
When you think you are completely prepared for a training session, you never are.
this one if just funny and so true - According to most Tech Support people, the most common user error message (regardless of Operating System) is ID 10T
When you think that after training, the project will be completed. Think again, there is always more work than you ever expected - the first 90% of a project requires 90% of the allotted time. The remaining 10% takes another 90% of the allotted time
When designing a program to handle all possible dumb errors, nature creates a dumber user, in my case, its the guy that doesn't want to learn a new system, will argue with you til he's blue in the face and will not learn it period and will always make someone else do the work for him
When you stay up all night trying to get the last few items completed for the training sessions, something will always go wrong (ie the power will go out, someone will shut down your remote connection to their server, etc.)
in general I am an optimist - furry logic kind of person and not much pisses me off but when someone sits there and argues with me like he how the system works better yet he's never touched it, it's frustrating.
I was asked by this client if I was completely and totally over being in the telecommunications business, did I want a job working for them. OMG - I am so over working in the telecommunications business on a day to day basis. Training on Tigerpaw System for telecommunications companies - that's ok, I'm there only for few days but never ever ever ever do I want to work in such a stressful enviroment again with people like the cable manager guy, I've had my nervous breakdowns, thank you very much.
anything in italics, is derived from Murphy's Law Site
so now I'm back with sooo much more work to do to finish this project. I still have one client that still hasn't paid me the $$ he owes and I don't understand why he can't just pay me for my time - all work on his project is stopped til I receive payment
in retrospect, I'm wondering now if he was trying to piss me off. What would he have done if I told him where he could go with his thoughts? I almost did but took a deep breath and tried other tactics but I wanted to soooo badly.
