In a recent Fortune (http://www.fortune.com) article, Wal-Mart was listed as America's most admired company's. It represents 2.3% of the US economy; it is the biggest employer in 21 states; sales on one day last fall topped $1.42bn - larger than the GDP of 26 countries; it netted $8bn profit on sales of $244.5bn last fiscal year. Despite this status, and since logic dictates that if you are not growing, you are declining, in another article in bizjournal.com (http://www.bizjournals.com) Wal-Mart is reportedly planning on trippling sales in the next 10 years. How long can this giant lead? Not forever. For some the question is not when will the giant trip, but where? Predicting this will allow a nimble competitor to exploit a weakness that might mortally wound the king of retail.
