Problems - Endurance - Character - Confident Expectation Thoughts on problems from the Apostle Paul. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us--they help us learn to endure. 4And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. 5And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.  Romans 5:3-5  prob·lem (prblm) - n. A question to be considered, solved, or answered.  A situation, matter, or person that presents perplexity or difficulty.  A misgiving, objection, or complaint.    en·dure  (n-dr, -dyr) - verb   v. tr. To carry on through, despite hardships; undergo.  To bear with tolerance.  v. intr. To continue in existence; last.  To suffer patiently without yielding. en·dur·ance  (n-drns, -dyr-) - noun The act, quality, or power of withstanding hardship or stress.   The state or fact of persevering.   Continuing existence; duration. char·ac·ter  (krk-tr) - noun The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another.  A distinguishing feature or attribute, as of an individual, group, or category.  Moral or ethical strength. A description of a person's attributes, traits, or abilities. Public estimation of someone; reputation.  con·fi·dent (knf-dnt) - adjective Marked by assurance, as of success. Marked by confidence in oneself; self-assured.  Very bold; presumptuous. ex·pec·ta·tion (kspk-tshn) - noun The act of expecting. Eager anticipation.   The state of being expected. Something expected.   sal·va·tion (sl-vshn) - noun Preservation or deliverance from destruction, difficulty, or evil. A source, means, or cause of such preservation or deliverance. Christianity. Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption. The agent or means that brings about such deliverance.
