World Economic Forum - Great Information On Global Network Readiness Great information from the World Economic Forum on the state of information and communication technology throughout the world. Covering a total of 102 economies, the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) of the new Global Information Technology Report 2003-2004 measures how prepared economies are to participate in, and benefit from, information and communication technology (ICT) developments. The NRI is composed of three component indexes which assess: the environment for ICT offered by a given country or community; the readiness of the community's key stakeholders (individuals, businesses and governments); and the usage of ICT among these stakeholders. Since it was first launched in 2001, the Report has become a valuable and unique benchmarking tool to determine national ICT strengths and weaknesses and evaluate progress. The Report also highlights the continuing importance of ICT application and development for economic growth.
