Can one who is not filled with the God's Spirit please God?
Can one who is not filled with the God's Spirit please God?

1.  Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.  (Romans 8:8)

2.  If you are not controlled by the sinful nature - you are controlled by the Spirit - if the Spirit of God lives in you.   (Romans 8:9)

3.  If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. (Romans 8:9)

4.  You would need to belong to Christ - thus have the Spirit living in you - to please God. (Romans 8:8-9)

Romans 8:1-9 :  Life Through the Spirit

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.  9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

Monergism Or Synergism - Which "ism" Do You Believe?

Monergism Or Synergism - Which "ism" Do You Believe?

Great comparison of  Two Views Of Regeneration

Monergism: In theology., The doctrine that the Holy Spirit is the only efficient agent in regeneration - that the human will possesses no inclination to holiness until regenerated, and therefore cannot cooperate in regeneration. Monergism is when God conveys that power into the fallen soul whereby the person who is to be saved is enabled to receive the offer of redemption. It refers to the first step (regeneration) which has causal priority over, and gives rise to, the spiritual ability to comply with all the other aspects of the process of being united to Christ, (i.e., the ability to apprehend the Redeemer by a living faith, to repent of sin and to love God and the Mediator supremely) It does not refer to the whole process that it gives rise to (justification, sanctification), but only the granting of the spiritual capacity to comply with the terms of the covenant of grace.

Example of Monergist approach to salvation:  If God exercized His justice then none of us would stand since each of us has rebelled against an infinitely holy God. He owes us nothing and is under no obligation to save any person. Regeneration is, therefore, an act of pure, undeserved mercy because the justice we deserved, He poured out on His Son (thereby turning His wrath away from us).

Synergism: "...the doctrine that there are two efficient agents in regeneration, namely the human will and the divine Spirit, which, in the strict sense of the term, cooperate. This theory accordingly holds that the soul has not lost in the fall all inclination toward holiness, nor all power to seek for it under the influence of ordinary motives."

Example of Synergist approach to salvation:   It would be unjust of God to not give everyone an equal chance.

For a detailed comparison of these doctrines, please see the "Cause Of Regeneration" comparison from John Hendryx.
