Feed Pre-population

Thought I'd just leave this comment but then saw that Will's idea of pre-populating aggregators for learners was getting a bit of steam (sorry, should be making waves, I know) and so thought I'd add my bit here instead.

I reckon setting up aggregators for learners is way cool, in the same breath as (if not before) looking at blogging, but I'm not too sure about pre-population of those aggregators (in the same way IE et al pre-pops bookmarks) for two reasons really:

1. I should be able to select what I want... take out the choice (or hint at it) and I'll be a bit unhappy, as Jenny said it'd be a cracking job by any librarian to get together, categorise and share feeds... but already in there... no thanks!

2. It feels like that whole 'community aggregator' thing again... which works against the individuals in the group (we are our own group aggregator, perhaps?)

However... to generate a social dynamic you'd do well to pre-pop with other learners feeds (in their 'group'... probably max of about 30-odd and with limited character RSS - with optional installation of complete post stuff).

What I'm thinking is that we more and more need a blogging and an aggregating system which can hook up with our administrative systems and allow class management / set-up tools while being totally independent and flexible to the users once they get going. A kind of inner-web-system?
