Just finished reading "Kil'n People" by David Brin (here's one review that I think is on the mark) and I recommend it as a good read. Boils down to a crime thriller set in a novel future environment, but where the typical crime book I read spends a lot time getting to know the main character the premise of this book prevents this, as there are several copies of the main character. However, Brin's description of this future world is captivating for most of the book.
It's the first book by Brin that I've read so can't compare with his previous stuff .. yet.
