Paul Im and Remember Rockefeller at ICA Theatre

The Modern Jazz Movement presents saxophonist, Paul Im, and his jazz octet, Remember Rockefeller, at the ICA Theatre, 955 Boylston Street, Boston, at 7 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2003. Also appearing will be the vocal jazz group, Syncopation, and Ian Rapien[base ']s Spectrums. General admission tickets are $10. There will be a cash bar from 7-11 pm. Paul Im and Remember Rockefeller have performed at the Regattabar (with Walter Beasley and Hiromi), the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles and The Berklee Performance Center, and features the neo-classical compositions of master jazz composer, Jonathan Price, and the powerful horn section lead by saxophonists Charles Lee and Ian Rapien. Paul Im is the President of Jazz Revelation Records, a non-profit record label that supports and develops young jazz musicians and the first jazz record label sponsored by Berklee College of Music. He has studied and worked with renowned saxophonists Eric Marienthal, George Garzone, Bill Pierce (Jazz Messengers) and Fred Lipsius (Blood, Sweat and Tears). Syncopation, called "the Manhattan Transfer of the 21st Century" by Steve Greenlee of the Boston Globe, performs jazz and pop standards in "gorgeous voices and harmonies" (Greenlee). Mentored by Manhattan Transfer member, Cheryl Bentyne, the group is based out of Berklee College of Music. Ina Rapien[base ']s Spectrums is an electronica jazz quartet that opened for John Scofield at Martha[base ']s Vineyard in 2003, and appeared in the October 2003 issue of Jazziz Magazine.
