Memories of the Little Big Horn
Years ago Kenneth and I visited
the Little Big Horn Battlefield. I remember hearing somewhere that
before the Indians attacked the 7th cavalry, and possible death, they
told each other, "it is a beautiful day to die." In April of 1991 when
my first wife Candy was killed in a car accident, I remembered what the
Indians said. A few years ago when my friend Alan Fried died, again it
was Spring and those words again came back to me. Once again, after my
sister's passing I walk around campus and see the blossoms everywhere.
It is a lovely day, absolutely beautiful!
