"Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all. How do we define this lively darting about with words, of hitting them back and forth, this sort of brief smile of ideas which should be conversation?" Guy de Maupassant

Thought for the day

"You wander from room to room
Hunting for the diamond necklace
That is already around your neck!"

Create your own soap opera - tell us more about yourself

Another cool link - another cool tool.  Create your own novel or soap opera.  Reminds me of the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) - a widely used projective test that helps assess an individual's perception of interpersonal relationships.  Sets of pictures are used to stimulate stories or descriptions about relationships or social situations.

We often use an adaptation in qualitative market research as a storytelling tool - in relation to products, services, brands, use-experiences and image associations.  This is useful in motivational research, creative development research, visioning exercises, new product development work.  It helps identify attitudes, motivations and drives, emotions and feelings associated.  And throws up the nature of relationship the consumer and the subject of research, in all its complexity and conflict.

I wonder how much this is being used in online research.

Moblog camphone DIY soap.

Avant Soap is another experiment in using mobile phones, computing, and the internet to create new forms of stories. The site offers a series of images taken from users' camphones or other devices, which you can arrange as you like to create your own story, even a soap opera.

Better yet, since anyone can send in an image (try it!), repeated self-picturers and self-senders can even become stars.

Conversations on creativity

The conversation on creativity tools continues at Paul Goodison's blog.  An excerpt :

Conclusion
Have fun! Be a child! Play lots.

All these are tools, processes, catalysts to get to a certain point or output. Use tools as a starting point or a block remover but always consider the points above. Context will give you better chance of success, and enjoyment will improve your hit rate.

Any of that makes sense?
