"Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all. How do we define this lively darting about with words, of hitting them back and forth, this sort of brief smile of ideas which should be conversation?" Guy de Maupassant

Blogs Hit Mainstream Media in India - Are You Blogging Today ?

One of the few articles on blogging in mainstream media in India - The Times of India Bangalore edition has this story - Are You Blogging Today?  Good to see this happen !

A few excerpts :

".....That's blogging in India today. The phenomenon, like in any other parts of the globe, has gone far beyond the techie and geekish crowd. Teenagers, women, photographers, ornithologists, travellers... indeed, just about anybody who is also Internet-savvy is becoming a blogger"

"....Some blogs are community efforts, based on a specific topic or area of mutual interest. Trekearth is a pure photo blog, with photographs from around the world and where one could login to add, critique or discuss photos.  Such community blogs are often seen to be a better forum for a group to communicate than is email or a discussion forum. "The kind of community gathering that blogs can do is amazing," said Ullas"

"....Often, specialist blogs acquire such reader respect that they are seen as more credible sources of information than are other information channels. Aedhmar Hynes, CEO of public relations company Text 100 International, says a popular blog could well be discussing a glitch in a company's technology offering long before the company itself has discovered the problem.  "There are also bloggers whose opinions are very influential. So it's becoming very important for PR companies like ours to constantly track and communicate with bloggers," she said"
