My friend Sandra sent me this article, a good one about how high school students are incorporating weblogs into their lives. Will comments on it as well, in a post at Weblogg-ed.

Open Anarchy or Closed Dictatorship
Check out the provocative questions...and ensuing discussion hosted by Dave Munger of Commontext. (Great title...I certainly prefer open anarchy as a concept...:)):

How do students and teachers get access to the materials they need?
Current collaborative efforts to create teaching material
What motivates teachers to share?
How is quality controlled in collaborative texts?

Personal Webpublishing as a reflective conversational tool for self-organized learning
Quote: "This paper suggests that personal Webpublishing technologies and practices can be conceptualized as a reflective conversational learning tool for self-organized learning. Beyond the examination of the theoretical basis for such a claim, initial ideas for specific learning environment designs on the basis of a "conversational framework" are presented."
Comment: I've just skimmed this article...printed it for detailed reading tomorrow. The most difficult aspect of writing a good article/paper is getting a "fresh concept" - one that is relevant to current happenings in the field...but goes beyond simply rehashing existing dialogue - it must extend it. Sebastian's got a winner here...

My comment: This is just what I've been trying to talk to colleagues and teachers about. Now to find time to read and think about the whole article.

I love Syndirella. It is probably the best free news aggregator out there. The ability to create my own web feeds for those sites that don't have them is a big plus. I wouldn't use another aggregator unless it had this option.

Over the past few weeks, my work with aggregators was become somewhat too much to handle. I had Syndirella loaded at work and home and (as is the problem with many software based aggregators) it was hard to keep the two working together. In fact, it was almost impossible. I needed remote access at work to my PC running an aggregator at home. Also, I decided that I wanted to use a leader in the industry, one that I have never heard any complaints about. I needed Radio.

So, I am using Radio now as my aggregator and I love it. It has everything I need: remote access, the ability to delete content once I've read it, and it is very very easy to use. Oh, and as for creating feeds fo sites that don't have them, I have Stapler.

In fact, I love Stapler so much that I am going to start something new here at Library Stuff. Every friday, I will reveal a new RSS Feed that I have created using Stapler. They will almost always be library related, but some may go into the legal research field as I also use my aggregator for work related stuff. If you know of a site whose content you would like to get in your aggregator, send me an e-mail and I will put it on the list (which is quite lenghthy now).

One more thing. I am using Radio as my aggregator, not my weblog software. I absolutely love Movable Type and it would take a lot for me to move...a lot!!
