Do not fight the power of Google pagerank.

What do I mean by fighting the power of Google pagerank?  Let's say you are targeting the keyword "business" on one of your web pages.  You type "business" into the Google engine and then take a look at the top sites that pop up.  If the pagerank for all of those pages is above 5 and the page you are trying to get ranked only has a pagerank of 2, you can pretty much forget ever beating out those sites - no matter how much tweaking you do!

You would be much better off by targeting keywords where the top pages have a Google pagerank closer to yours.  You will have a MUCH better chance of getting a top 10 listing if you follow this strategy.  Spend some time every week getting additional links to your site from other high-ranking sites.  This will increase your pagerank, and open up the number of keywords you will be able to realistically  target.
