Email Filtering Is Killing Online Businesses
The huge amount of junk mail being crammed into people's email boxes is causing a massive backlash against mass emailers. This backlash has led to the creation of hundreds of spam-filtering software packages, super tight email filtering by Internet Service Providers, and a general hatred of unsolicited email.
Sure, some of that junk mail is being blocked, but so is a huge amount of LEGITIMATE email such as ezines, customer service communication, important notifications, and even newsletters that people have subscribed to (and wonder why they never receive).
All of this email blocking is squeezing the life out of many online businesses.
How are you supposed to run a business when customer support emails never get to you? How do you think your customers feel when they ask you a question and never get your reply email? EMAIL FILTERING IS INSANE! Just hit the F'ing "delete" button. There is no need to buy expensive software, or have your ISP babysit your email box. I can delete a hundred emails in 30 seconds, and so can you!
What is the solution to the customer communication problem? First, contact your ISP and tell them that you do not want them to filter your email - tell them that you will take care of it yourself. You are paying them a monthly fee to DELIVER your email, not BLOCK IT! This will enable more of your customers' emails to get through to you, and you will lose less business because of it.
What about your outgoing emails? How are your customer replys and marketing messages going to get past the overzealous filters? One solution is to carefully scan your entire outgoing message for "trigger words" and "trigger phrases" that set off the filters and cause them to kill your email before it is delivered.
You could try to memorize a huge list of these trigger words and phrases, and then spend hours going over your outgoing messages hoping that you catch all the "bad" stuff, or you can do it the quick way.
