Loyal users of eBay's Anything Points program had better hope eBay displays a little reciprocal loyalty of its own. A reader points out that, by the program's terms and conditions, eBay can devalue the points earned by customers whenever it likes.

"Anything Points is eBay's loyalty program for frequent buyers," the reader wrote. "What I found particularly interesting is that the participant basically has no rights at all. For example, 'earned' Anything Points are not the property of the participant. EBay can also value the points in any way it desires, including to $0.00. Currently, points are worth $0.01. In effect, eBay has structured the program so that it can cancel it at any time with no unfunded liability."
