Holistic Health Salaries
A lot of people are coming to this blog by searching about "holistic health salaries" or "pay" or whatever. Since I have talked to quite a few holistic health providers in Columbus, Ohio, I thought I would address this question.
Let me tell you, if you are considering going into this field, you will probably be disappointed with what you're going to make initially. There was a recent survey of massage therapists that concluded that they make an average of $30,000. And massage therapists are near the top of the list in the holistic field. Of course, chiropractors and osteopaths will make a lot more than $30,000, assuming they can run a good business and are mindful of business issues. But other holistic practices will provide even less cash on average. I'm sure there are practitioners who make a good living with these modalities, but not too many. A great number of practitioners do their labors of love for $20,000 or even less.
To me, this is a business issue. The reason the practitioners are not making enough money is that they are not consistently busy enough. An aromatherapist I met is extremely busy in November and December doing Christmas gift packages, but then she has slow going from January on. This is a marketing issue. This is a big reason why I decided to start a business school for holistic healers. I think with certain specific business skills and a good support network of other practitioners, each holistic healer will be able to raise their revenue significantly while still doing what they love.
My thought for the day...
