Maybe I link to WorldChanging too much. I'm not sure whether it's at the top of the blogroll because it is consistently interesting and thought-provoking (which it is), or is it simply that once I get there, I never have time to read anything else.

Nonetheless, here's a new WorldChanging post from Dina Mehta with a fine "Intro to Social Software." As she says: "For some who use these tools, this post may seem really basic, for others who are still early explorers, we hope it opens up new windows. I am an addict myself and will try and share stories about how they are changing the way I perceive the world and altering my behaviour."

I have not dabbled in Skype yet, but it sounds intriguing. Definitely want to explore some more of those 380 Social Networking Services, though. I'm on LinkedIn, Ryze and Monster Networking, and Meetup (of course, but who knows for how much longer). Never quite got into/understood del.icio.us.
If you're reading, let me know what services you use, and what you get out of them.

The fine people at WorldChanging have uncovered what promises to be a most interesting paper on the potential for nanotechnology to help the process of sustainable development. Two things in particular make it interesting:

  • The paper appeared in the Public Library of Science Medical Journal, the "Peer reviewed, open access" journal designed, in part, to break the chokehold overpriced scientific journals have over academic libraries.
  • The authors are bio-ethicists, rather than folks more likely to want to profit from these discoveries.

Folks interested in this should visit the Responsible Nanotechnology network blog, (click here or in the blogroll). They've yet to comment on this particular paper, but do worthwhile work in this area.
