Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

studio 60 logoI love this show already.

It's so smart, well written, well acted.

It is quality all the way. From the Network like opening of the pilot episodes with the exec producer telling the audience to change channels, you are sucked into the world of Studio 60.

However 7 episodes in and it's already being talked about being cancelled.

Some dude has an Online petition to save Studio 60. I really hope the show continues and it gets show downunder.

Ben Elton : Chart Throb

While I was in hospital, I read Ben Elton's new book - Chart Throb, which is described as "A biting social satire of one of the world's most popular cultural phenomena from the bestselling author of FIRST CASUALTY."

It was a real good read, Typical Ben Elton

Ninety five thousand hopefuls. Three judges. Just one winner.

And that's Colin Simms, the genius behind the show.

Colin always wins because Colin writes the rules. But this year, as he sits smugly in judgement upon the mingers, clingers and blingers whom he has pre-selected in his carefully scripted 'search' for a star, he has no idea that the rules are changing. The 'real' is about to be put back into 'reality' television and Colin and his fellow judges (the nation's favourite mum and the other bloke) are about to become ex-factors themselves.

Ben Elton, author of POPCORN and DEAD FAMOUS returns to blistering comic satire with a savagely hilarious deconstruction of the world of modern television talent shows.

CHART THROB. One winner. A whole bunch of losers.

What's Been Happening?

Boy, it's been quiet here.

2 weeks ago I had been feeling crook in the guts - that's a technical term.

I went to see my local GP and he thought it could be appendicitis

Yuk. Appendicitis isn't a pleasant option. Especially since I had an overseas trip coming up

The next day I went and saw a local surgeon and he felt 95% confident of that diagnosis. Good Odds I guess.

So, off to hospital I went for an appendectomy

The next day, the surgeon came to see me and told me it actually wasn't appendicitis!

What The?

Now I have a big scar, no appendix and I still have a pain in the guts.

A few days later I am feeling better, but still in hospital. I suspected I had this.

I was discharged from hospital and went home to recover, which is where I am now and I haven't really been in the mood to blog.
