IT-Director.com's article, Neoteris Reduces the Cost of Web Conferencing Again by Martin Langham (August 21, 2003), takes a look at a new web conferencing product from Neoteris, well known for its main SSL VPN product, Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE).  Their new web conferencing appliance, Neoteris Meetings Series, is a combined hardware and software appliance that creates a secure link for online meetings across firewalls. Their bottom line: cost reductions. The product supports shared presentations, online chat, application sharing, co-browsing and desktop sharing, but doesn't provide voice or video conferencing features.

"Neoteris realised their Instant Virtual Extranet was the perfect solution to the problem of managing web conferencing between an organisation and its partners outside the organisation's firewall. Neoteris Meetings Series, their new Web conferencing appliance, comprises hardware and software to create a secure link for online meetings across firewalls.

"This is a better approach to web conferencing with external parties. Normally organisations setting up external Web conferences have two choices. They can set up their own extranet within a DMZ with all the cost, complexity and administration effort it entails, or they can use an external provider of web conferencing facilities such as WebEx or Placeware and pay the usage charges."
