What's the link between these two? With the extreme shortage of the flu vaccine this year, many employers are focusing on preventing the spread of the flu in the workplace. If you have the flu, staying home is an obvious way to prevent passing it on to your office mates, but if you just have to get the work done, or don't feel so bad that you can't work, telework is the way to go. HP is one company that has made the link:

'Hewlett-Packard holds health fairs every year, offering the flu shot to employees. Because of the vaccine shortage, the company has canceled the fairs at its facilities across the United States this year, said Marcy Eastham, a Corvallis spokeswoman for the company.

'"Company employees have access to a link to the CDC," Eastham said. She added that there are "so many telecommuting opportunities, so a lot of people would just work from home anyway" if they were sick."'
