I'm Officially a West Coast Baby!!!

Azul, Celia and Mom Flying to San Francisco
We did it!! Today we (OK, Mom and Dad -- Celia kept unpacking and I watched) packed up the last scraps of our things in Quincy House (after shipping about 90 boxes of our things on Thursday and Friday -- perhaps this would be a good time to buy stock in UPS!) and all headed to airport for our trip to San Francisco. Not such a big deal for Mom and Dad, who have lived there for a long time, or Celia, who is a Bay Area native. But for a Boston born and raised girl like me, heading to the left coast is pretty radical (can anyone say "Governor Schwarzenegger?"!!!) But it was a great trip, and I took the record from Celia for earliest first flight (mine was at a scant few days over two months, hers not until over three months . . . ha!). Here we are on the plane -- Celia is telling me all about my new City and showing me all the highlights in her great new California picture book that her (now Californian) friend Audrey sent her.

So far, I really like it here. We have a great house, with what Mom and Dad say are wonderful views and a little yard for Celia (and soon me!!), the weather is SO nice (though it is very strange to go from being much too hot and always sweaty (something about humidity?) in Cambridge to needing my little baby sweater in the cool air here), and lots of very cool things to do.

Mom, Me, and AlcatrazMom, Celia, and AlcatrazWe all went to this great place called Crissy Field to take a walk and let Celia play on the beach ("beach" is all she has been able to talk about since before we left Cambridge!). She got all wet and sandy and generally had a fabulous time . . . and I nursed. But I did get to have my picture taken with Mom and Alcatraz -- it's a lot like a picture of Celia when she was about two weeks old.

Big, big thanks to Betty for all the help getting us packed up and moved, and for spending such great time with me our last couple of weeks in Cambridge. I (and all of us) will miss her so much, but look forward to seeing her sometime soon in SF.
