UDDI spec released for registering web services

One of the key ingredients in a service oriented architecture to employ web services as a way of delivering up XML documents is the directory service that allows users on the internet (or more importantly to criminal justice on the state-wide intranet or local intranet) to discover and reference available web services is the "yellow pages" that are the source of defining available web services that can be referenced in an application.  The development of a standard for this part of the whole web service architecture has lagged other standards, but there is now significant progress.  CNET news reports the release of a standard for creating a web services directory: Web services registry spec released.
