Mesh networks proliferate
Garland, Texas is the latest city to replace CDPD mobile and wireless communications with a Mesh Networks technology that provides broadband access throughout the city without an expensive r-f infrastructure. This technology, well proven in military applications, is still in the experimental stage in public safety, but has the promise of delivering the kind of infrastructure that public safety agencies need to provide continuous broadband access in vehicles. A lot of cities are experimenting with this technology to replace CDPD or just to create the capability for broadband access from vehicles.
