Web Services comes of age as a technology

In a special e-Week report on Web services and their proliferation in the commercial world, analysts contend that the corner has been turned and large multitudes of companies have leaped into the new world of web services, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI. Several interesting articles in this report cover implementation examples that show that major institutions have gotten over their apprehension about security issues and moved on to adopt this new technology.   The world of justice information technology will not be far behind.   The publication of the first release of the Global Justice XML Data Model has tipped the scales in the justice IT world and the next logical step is to implement the full web services concept in real world exchanges of justice information.  Some projects are already there, and more will come as the industry makes this the standard way to build integrated justice information systems.
