Hey, dere. Just finished the first day of the three-day Marquette Sport, Boat & RV Show at the Superior Dome on the Northern Michigan University campus. A lot of fishermen were interested in seeing the Fillet King® fillet board, which we demonstrated, using some lake perch donated by the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association. I'll be there through Sunday, so come on by.

I was happy to note that a number of Yoopers watch Outdoor Wisconsin on TV on weekends. One gentleman even asked where we picked those morels last spring! "Like he's gonna drive from Marquette all the way to southern Wisconsin just to pick morels," I thought. But, hey, his wife said something about "worth the drive for a car full of morels," and once again I had misjudged what some people will to for their favorite wild food.

Speaking of wild food, I was anticipating I'd see a lot of dead deer on the roads coming up here today, but in over 250 miles of driving, most of it through some pretty wild country, I saw only two dead deer, both in Michigan. One was smashed pretty good and lying on the shoulder of Michigan HWY 35, somewhere between Menominee and Escanaba. The second was on HWY 41 north of Escanaba. I would have missed seeing that one, except that a raven was sitting on top of it. Normally see a lot more of them, but not this year.

I was also surprised to see how much snow they have lost up here. Most of it is gone in the open areas, tho cedar swamps and higher elevations still have some. Might ski Sunday morning if I can find a trail.

Pretty bushed tonight. More perhaps after tomorrow night.

Later...
