Mostly news stories or articles of interest in the future to me. I'll eventually get around to adding my own ideas and stories on a more regular basis.

Shaky knees

Wondering eyes

Quivering lips

Spinning around

Tilting over

Roaming freely

Sun-brewed tea

Buttered bread

Chocolate pie

Swinging hammocks

Feather beds and pillows

Teddy bears

Flowers galore

Growing plants

Climbing trees

Frisbee

Dodgeball

Swimming

Sand between my toes

Salt-covered skin

Wispy hair

These are a few of my favorite things.

I want that feeling you get from going down a slide too fast and not being able to see the bottom.  You hope to “god” there’s a slant at the bottom that helps you slow down before you slide into the pebbly rocks.  And, if not…it won’t be the first skinned knee or elbow ever endured.  All for the sake of a thrill and belly-drop and that wonderful feeling that for a moment it’s all out of your control and it’s going to happen, and ohwow the simple delight.

Delight.  De-…a prefix meaning “Do or make the opposite of; reverse:” or “Remove or remove from” and even “Reduced.”  Funny that I don’t associate delight with removing the light, but rather, accepting the light.  Enjoying the light.  Becoming the light.  Not removing.  Not that one can’t delight in the dark, but even in the dark I think of wonderful feelings as light and bright and on…

I do love the belly-drops.  And belly-laughs.  And belly-dances.  Okay, okay, I just love the bellies of goodness.  We often mention our wonderful brains and loving hearts, but don’t forget the bellies.  Big and small.  Like smiles hidden under our clothes.  A glimpse of a person.  Heh.

My mind is rambly and random today.  I’d rather be cuddling or reading or people-watching or chattering away about nothing with a friend…not so much the working I’m being paid to do.

Today's been quite the catch-up on life day.  Hopefully it'll continue with a trip to the gym and getting my laundry done....and put away.  Living alone is great, but it sure makes it easy to be lazy sometimes.  Okay, I'll try to blog something more interesting soon.

Oooh-ooh-I want this!

a-bike.jpg imageSir Clive Sinclair, inventor of the pocket calculator and the nigh-on-legendary Sinclair personal computer, has unveiled a new, folding bicycle design he's calling the 'A-Bike.' To be launched in 2005, the 12-pound bike can be folded and unfolded in around 20 seconds and rides on tiny, air-filled tires. The idea is (if it weren't obvious) to provide a cheapish alternative to full-sized bikes that can be folded up and taken with you wherever you go, although the $300 price is considerable more than it would cost to purchase a capable, if basic, street bicycle and chain. Still, I am intrigued. Portable urban transportation is one of my new pet pastimes, and the A-bike would be much easier to recharge than the electric scooters I've been eyeing (they sell pizza almost everywhere). (Thanks, Tim!)

They Might Be Giants have put their new album online as MP3s, for $0.99 each, with the whole disc available for $9.99. The disc costs $18, and the band has refused to withhold material from the Web version to make up for the discrepancy, listening to fans who insisted that they wanted to buy the disc online. Link

Smart thinkin'....and such a more reasonable price.

Rebecca Ryan posted this great article on Worthwhile.  It was quite touching.  I really liked the ball analogy:

“Rebecca, I'm going to share with you my philosophy of life. Each of us is given five balls. One is rubber and four are glass. The rubber ball is work. If you drop it, it will always bounce back. The other four glass balls are family, friends, health and integrity. If you drop them, they are shattered. They won't bounce back."

It's hard to let go of the rubber ball sometimes and embrace the other things that are important with all of our might.  I feel like I've been struggling with this lately with all that's going on with my family...catch, catch, catch, catch..
