Urban Educ8r: A Wickerblog
This weblog is dedicated primarily to the discussion of Education issues and policies, as well as to chronicling the author's experiences as an inner-city school teacher. These days, the education discussion is too much in the hands of ignorant politicians merely doing what they need to gain re-election, and not enough in the hands of knowledgable professionals with first hand experience.

On Friday I received the excicting news that I have become a National Board Certified Teacher! It was a tough process, but worth it. I believe it has made me a better, more self-reflective teacher. I am humbled and excited about my new "status" and sincerely hope to live up to it. Anyone else out there pursuing National Board, stick with it. Be patient. And get a really good reader: I owe my success in part to my girlfriend, whose experience and expertise with academic writing enabled me to greatly improve my portfolio entries.
