I'm off on the last of my OCP courses next week, over at Oracle Eastpoint in Dublin. There won't be much time for blogging during the week, as I plan to spend every spare moment studying so that I can take the exam a week later. It's also the first time i'll be using the DART, so here's hoping I end up at Eastpoint and not Dun Laoghaire on Monday morning.

The Business Intelligence software market shake-up continues: Hyperion are looking to buy Brio. Significantly, this will give Hyperion a presence in the relational reporting market, whilst giving Brio a bit of breathing space after their ill-conceived purchase of Sqribe Technologies in 1999.

So what now for Cognos and Microstrategy. According to sources on comp.databases.olap, Microstrategy is an obvious aquisition target for Oracle, whilst another reckons the immenant introduction of Microsoft Reporting Services means time's up for relational reporting vendors.
