I was sitting in a Starbucks this morning passing time while my car was being serviced when a great looking BMW cabriolet (that was later revealed as a BMW 645) parked and the driver came in for a coffee. It turns out he was an auto journalist for the Toronto Star (Laurance Yap I think but I will have to wait till Saturday to see if an article on the car under his byline appears in the Star as identifying him from his byline picture was not 100%). He sat down near me, whipped out his Apple laptop, and high end Fuji( I think) digital camera and proceeded to download some pictures. (it was Laurance Yap as confirmed by his article on the 645 - "Technology makes act of driving a joy and a blood boiler")
I struck up a conversation with him about "his" car and we digressed into a number of topic areas before he left including digital cameras, my impending German GP trip, the Canadian Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, Charlie and Brett Goodman (operators of the Mosport based Bridgestone Racing Academy) and George Gondos (an auto journalist and my friend who passed away under tragic circumstances a few years ago).
All in all it made what was a tedious wait for my car less boring.
