It is being widely reported (CNET, Scoble) that Apple will announce on Monday that they will stop using IBM's Power PC and start using Intel Processors. If it is true it could produce ripples everywhere. Though Apple and the Power PC represent very small portions of the PC and processor market both have loyal and fanatic followers.
The most immediate and profound effect would be on Apple but the purported move if true could have far reaching effect on IBM, Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Open Source in general and all their users, developers and customers. If Steve Jobs does confirm this path on Monday as many are speculating it will make for an interesting year as all the players realign.
