Panasonic has announced a new DSLR - the DMC-L1 with a Leica four thirds lens. This seems to be a result of collaboration between Olympus and Panasonic. It has the Olympus sensor dust beating mechanism and the Leica lens has the Panasonic OIS Image Stabilization built in. If Panasonic can overcome some of the noise problems inherent in the smaller sensor four thirds system and offer the combination for a competitive price this could allow them to compete head to head with Nikon and Canon. It is not clear when this camera is likely to be available.
Samsung has also introduced the GX-1L based on its joint project with Pentax. It seems not overly exciting -- nothing new or different to recommend it.
Rumour is that Sony will also introduce a DSLR mid year (based on Konica Minolta technology). If it combines the Image Stabilization from Konica with a rumoured full frame sensor the introduction could create a splash.
